A precision lathe with a rigid aluminium-and-steel body, suited to small parts in wood, plastic, aluminium and steel. Stepper-driven CNC control, dovetail slides and the Package B kit (self-centering chuck, steady rest, live center, cutoff tool) place it beyond a basic hobby machine while staying short of the performance and automation of an industrial one. It targets prototyping, model engineering, research and teaching.

Software
The system includes an Ubuntu Linux computer with LinuxCNC preinstalled for 4-axis control, with the driver board and power supply already fitted. The tailstock spindle remains manually controlled. Utilities to convert CAD files or TrueType fonts into G-code are included; only a monitor must be supplied.
