A precision lathe with a rigid aluminium-and-steel body, suited to small parts in wood, plastic, aluminium and steel. Stepper-driven CNC control and dovetail slides place it beyond a basic hobby machine while staying short of the performance and automation of an industrial one. The Package A kit is the most basic in the series and targets prototyping, model engineering, research and teaching.

Software
The system includes an Ubuntu Linux computer with LinuxCNC preinstalled for 4-axis control, with the driver board and power supply already fitted. The tailstock spindle remains manually controlled. Utilities to convert CAD files or TrueType fonts into G-code are included; only a monitor must be supplied.
