The Lumos is a 2.3 kg portable engraver carrying two sources: a 3 W infrared at 1064 nm for metals and a 10 W diode for wood, leather and dark acrylic. The infrared source is what separates it from pure diodes in the same bracket: it marks stainless steel, anodised aluminium and brass without contrast spray, which a blue diode does at no price. At $940 it costs as much as an enclosed desktop diode laser, but gives up the enclosure and declares no work area: it rests on the workpiece and travels to fairs, it does not replace a cutting machine. It is the tool for those who personalise metal objects on the spot, not for those who produce runs in a workshop.
