Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo vs Prusa Research CORE One+ kit

Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

Two mid-range CoreXY printers that print in several colors, up to four or five. The deciding difference: on the Centauri 2 Combo the four-color system is already in the box, on the CORE One+ kit multicolor needs a separate accessory.

Software notes Four-color printing runs through the CANVAS system included in the Combo version. Prusa firmware based on Marlin, fully open source, with built-in input shaper for faster and cleaner prints. Official slicer: PrusaSlicer (free, optimized profiles), compatible with Cura and Simplify3D. Control via USB, Ethernet or Wi-Fi with Prusa Connect (optional). No filament DRM: full freedom to use third-party materials.

The differences that matter

  • Four colors included against five with an accessory → the Centauri prints in color as soon as it is assembled; the CORE One+ kit has to be completed first.
  • Maximum speed 500 against 200 mm/s (manufacturer-declared values) → the same part takes longer on the CORE One+ kit.
  • Build area 256 × 256 mm against 250 × 220 mm → a part 240 mm deep only fits on the Centauri.
  • Height 256 mm against 270 mm → a part 265 mm tall only fits on the CORE One+ kit.

Which one to choose

Choose Centauri 2 Combo if…

You want to print in several colors from day one, without buying anything else, on a machine with a high declared speed. The trade-off: one color fewer than the other's maximum and a little less print height.

Choose CORE One+ kit if…

You prefer an open workflow: open-source Marlin-based firmware, the official PrusaSlicer (also compatible with Cura), built-in input shaper, control over USB, Ethernet or Wi-Fi with optional Prusa Connect, and no lock on third-party filaments. You accept a list price of €1049 for the kit version, an accessory for multicolor and a lower declared speed.
