Artillery Sidewinder X3 Plus vs Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo

Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

The Sidewinder X3 Plus bets on volume, the Centauri 2 Combo on CoreXY kinematics and four colours out of the box. The choice is between the tall part and the fast part, possibly in colour.

Software notes The STM32 board runs Marlin and communicates via USB Type-C or TF card; it works with any standard slicer (Cura, PrusaSlicer, Simplify3D) without proprietary restrictions. Lack of Wi-Fi requires physical transfer of G-code files, but ensures full offline control. Four-color printing runs through the CANVAS system included in the Combo version.

The differences that matter

  • Volume: 300×300×400 mm against 256×256×256 mm → a 30 cm tall object prints whole on the X3 Plus, while on the Centauri it comes in two halves.
  • Speed and kinematics: 500 mm/s declared on CoreXY against 300 mm/s on Cartesian (manufacturer's figures) → runs of small parts are the Centauri's territory.
  • Multicolour: four colours with CANVAS included only on the Centauri 2 Combo.

Which one to choose

Choose Sidewinder X3 Plus if…

You print tall objects in one piece, such as vases, lamps or costume parts, and are happy with a machine of around €280–360 running Marlin firmware without cloud. You accept that files arrive by hand, over USB-C or a TF card, since there is no Wi-Fi, and that printing is single colour.

See the Sidewinder X3 Plus sheet →

Choose Centauri 2 Combo if…

You produce small runs of mid-sized parts and, when needed, in several colours: CANVAS is in the Combo box and the filament sensor stops the print if the spool runs out. You accept that anything beyond the volume must be split and glued.
