Bambu Lab P1S vs Bambu Lab X2D

Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

Same 256×256 mm build plate, same enclosed chamber and same CoreXY motion: the choice comes down to the dual nozzle and the 120 °C bed, which the P1S does not have. The X2D costs about €180 more.

Software notes The P1S is managed through Bambu Studio, Bambu Lab's proprietary slicer available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, or via OrcaSlicer, the widely adopted open-source fork that provides finer parameter control. The Bambu Handy mobile app enables remote monitoring and print launching. The printer supports local LAN connections without a mandatory cloud account, though some advanced features — such as remote timelapses and OTA firmware updates — require a Bambu account. The X2D uses Bambu Studio as its official software, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It also accepts standard G-code from third-party slicers such as PrusaSlicer, SuperSlicer, and Cura, though some advanced features — including automatic calibration and dual-nozzle workflow management — are only fully supported within Bambu Studio.

The differences that matter

  • Dual nozzle vs single nozzle → two materials or colors in the same job without going through the same nozzle.
  • Bed up to 120 °C vs 100 °C → only the X2D has headroom for materials that need more bed heat.
  • Price €449 vs €629 → the difference buys the dual nozzle and a hotter bed, not a larger build plate.

Which one to choose

Choose P1S if…

Prototypes and functional parts with a single nozzle, for people who print often but rarely combine materials. It costs about €449 and, with the multicolor accessory, reaches 16 colors. You accept one extruder and a bed that tops out at 100 °C.

See the P1S sheet →

Choose X2D if…

Prints that combine two materials or two colors in one job thanks to the dual nozzle, and materials that call for a bed up to 120 °C. It costs €629, and dual-nozzle handling and automatic calibration are fully supported only in Bambu Studio: with other slicers you export G-code and lose part of those functions.
