Bambu Lab H2S vs Qidi Tech Max4

Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

The H2S and the Max4 cost nearly the same, but they don't aim at the same use: the H2S favors print speed, the Max4 a bigger bed and open firmware. The choice comes down to what the workshop actually needs: small parts printed fast, or large parts with direct firmware control.

Software notes The H2S uses Bambu Studio as its primary slicer, with full support for proprietary features including automatic calibration, AI monitoring, and AMS management. It also accepts G-code exported from OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, and Cura, though some advanced functions may not be available with third-party slicers. Laser and cutting functions are managed exclusively through Bambu Suite. Developer Mode is available, exposing MQTT access for custom integrations. The machine natively runs on Klipper firmware, offering comprehensive control and high computational speed for advanced features like input shaping. The user interface is managed locally via a large 5-inch touchscreen. Remote monitoring is facilitated by the integrated 1080p AI webcam with error detection for extrusion failures. For slicing, the manufacturer provides QIDI Studio, a software derived from PrusaSlicer/Bambu Studio, specifically optimized for high-temperature material profiles. Users can also access the Fluidd web interface for advanced control over the printer parameters and print offline via a USB drive or through the local network.

The differences that matter

  • Bed size: H2S 340×320 mm, Max4 390×390 mm → the Max4 fits larger single parts.
  • Stated speed: H2S 1000 mm/s, Max4 800 mm/s → the H2S finishes small parts sooner.
  • Firmware: only the Max4 has native Klipper → direct access to profiles and calibration.
  • Price: H2S about €1200, Max4 €1049 → the Max4 costs about €150 less despite the bigger bed.

Which one to choose

Choose H2S if…

You print small or medium parts and want the shortest print time: the stated speed reaches 1000 mm/s against the Max4's 800 mm/s. The bed stays smaller (340×320 mm versus 390×390 mm) and the firmware isn't as customizable as on the Max4.

See the H2S sheet →

Choose Max4 if…

You print large parts (390×390 mm bed versus 340×320 mm) or want to get into the firmware: the Max4 runs native Klipper and costs about €150 less than the H2S, in exchange for a lower stated speed (800 mm/s versus 1000 mm/s).
