Software notes The A2L is compatible with Bambu Studio, Bambu Lab's proprietary slicer for Windows and macOS, which provides native access to all machine features including AMS multi-color management. Third-party slicers that export standard G-code — such as PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer — are supported, though some advanced features may not be available outside Bambu Studio. Connectivity is via Wi-Fi; basic printing functions do not require a cloud account. The P1S is managed through Bambu Studio, Bambu Lab's proprietary slicer available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, or via OrcaSlicer, the widely adopted open-source fork that provides finer parameter control. The Bambu Handy mobile app enables remote monitoring and print launching. The printer supports local LAN connections without a mandatory cloud account, though some advanced features — such as remote timelapses and OTA firmware updates — require a Bambu account.

  • Build volume: The A2L offers an area of 330 × 320 × 325 mm, significantly larger than the 256 × 256 × 256 mm of the P1S.
  • Kinematics and structure: The A2L uses a Cartesian system without an enclosure, while the P1S utilizes CoreXY kinematics inside a natively enclosed frame.
  • Bed temperatures: The P1S heated bed reaches 100 °C, whereas the A2L stops at 80 °C, limiting the processing of high-shrinkage materials on the latter.
  • Multicolor capacity: Both machines require a separate accessory for multicolor printing, but the A2L supports up to 19 colors, exceeding the P1S's limit of 16.

Choose P1S if…

Choose the Bambu Lab P1S if you work with filaments prone to thermal warping. The native enclosed chamber, combined with a print bed capable of reaching 100 °C and CoreXY kinematics, makes it better suited for complex materials. The build volume is smaller (256 × 256 × 256 mm), but the external footprint is more compact.
