Anycubic Kobra X vs Bambu Lab A2L

Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

Kobra X and A2L cost almost the same, around €380, but answer different needs: printing single parts up to 260×260 mm with a firmware you can tune points to the Kobra X, needing a larger print bed points to the A2L.

Software notes Uses Anycubic Slicer Next with AI monitoring capabilities via mobile app and remote control. The A2L is compatible with Bambu Studio, Bambu Lab's proprietary slicer for Windows and macOS, which provides native access to all machine features including AMS multi-color management. Third-party slicers that export standard G-code — such as PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer — are supported, though some advanced features may not be available outside Bambu Studio. Connectivity is via Wi-Fi; basic printing functions do not require a cloud account.

The differences that matter

  • Print area: 260×260 mm on Kobra X, 330×320 mm on A2L → the A2L prints larger parts in one piece, the Kobra X stays limited to smaller formats.
  • Native Klipper: present on Kobra X, absent on A2L → only the Kobra X lets you edit firmware and macros without third-party software.
  • Bed temperature: 100°C on Kobra X, 80°C on A2L → the Kobra X handles filaments that warp when cold, like PETG, better.
  • Color handling with an accessory: up to 4 on Kobra X, up to 19 with AMS on A2L → the A2L cuts down manual swaps on complex multicolor jobs.

Which one to choose

Choose Kobra X if…

On the Kobra X, parts up to 260×260 mm print with room to tune firmware and print profiles by hand, thanks to native Klipper. The bed heats up to 100°C, useful with filaments like PETG that tend to lift at lower temperatures, and the declared speed reaches 600 mm/s. What's given up is the extra space and richer multicolor handling of the A2L.

Choose A2L if…

On the A2L, larger parts fit — up to 330×320 mm and 325 mm tall — and the AMS manages more spools for the same color changes. What's accepted is a bed that only heats to 80°C and a lower declared speed, plus no native Klipper like on the Kobra X.
