Anycubic Kobra S1 vs Bambu Lab H2D Pro

Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

Kobra S1 and H2D Pro don't compete on the same ground: €549 versus roughly €3650, nearly 7 times apart. Kobra S1 stays a mid-tier FDM printer; H2D Pro brings dual extrusion, an enclosed chamber and speeds up to 1000 mm/s in a professional bracket. The comparison only makes sense if budget allows it.

Software notes The Kobra OS firmware is based on Klipper and controlled via a proprietary touch interface. The official slicer is Anycubic Slicer Next (derived from OrcaSlicer, available for Windows and macOS), but it also supports third-party OrcaSlicer. Remote control is possible via the Anycubic app (iOS/Android) over a local network, with no mandatory cloud connection for daily operations. The native software is Bambu Studio, available for Windows and macOS, with advanced slicing and direct integration of the machine's proprietary features. The printer is also compatible with third-party slicers that export standard G-code (PrusaSlicer, SuperSlicer, Cura), though some advanced functions — including AMS control, Vision Encoder calibration, and chamber management — may be unavailable or only partially supported outside the Bambu ecosystem.

The differences that matter

  • Price: Kobra S1 €549 versus roughly €3650 for H2D Pro, a tier jump more than a head-to-head.
  • Work area: 250×250 mm on Kobra S1 versus 350×320 mm on H2D Pro.
  • Top speed: 600 mm/s on Kobra S1 versus 1000 mm/s on H2D Pro.
  • Extruder: single on Kobra S1, dual on H2D Pro, with multi-material support.
  • Native Klipper: present on Kobra S1, absent on H2D Pro.

Which one to choose

Choose Kobra S1 if…

Kobra S1 suits printing within 250×250 mm without needing multi-material: it costs €549 and runs native Klipper, so it plugs into Klipper profiles and plugins without going through Bambu Studio. Its 8 max colors cover most hobby projects.

Choose H2D Pro if…

H2D Pro suits large parts printed fast: its 350×320 mm area and 1000 mm/s top speed cut production time compared with Kobra S1's 600 mm/s. The dual multi-material extruder and enclosed chamber open the door to technical filaments like reinforced nylon and polycarbonate, which need nozzle temperatures up to 350°C.
