Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

Anycubic Kobra S1 Max Combo and Bambu Lab P1S are both F2, but price splits them sharply: roughly €949 against €449. The gap shows up in build volume and reachable temperatures, not in colors or ecosystem.

Software notes The firmware runs on a proprietary Kobra OS layer built on top of Klipper; the official slicer is Anycubic Slicer Next, derived from OrcaSlicer, available for Windows and macOS. Third-party OrcaSlicer is also supported. Remote monitoring and control are available via the Anycubic app (iOS/Android) over LAN, with no mandatory cloud connection required for core printing functions. The P1S is managed through Bambu Studio, Bambu Lab's proprietary slicer available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, or via OrcaSlicer, the widely adopted open-source fork that provides finer parameter control. The Bambu Handy mobile app enables remote monitoring and print launching. The printer supports local LAN connections without a mandatory cloud account, though some advanced features — such as remote timelapses and OTA firmware updates — require a Bambu account.

The differences that matter

  • Price: P1S €449 vs €949 for the Kobra S1 Max Combo — less than half.
  • Build area: Kobra S1 Max Combo 350×350 mm vs 256×256 mm on the P1S.
  • Max temperatures: 350°C nozzle and 120°C bed on the Kobra, vs 300°C and 100°C on the P1S — more room for technical materials.
  • Color count: P1S reaches 16 with the AMS, Kobra S1 Max Combo tops out at 4.

Which one to choose

Choose Kobra S1 Max Combo if…

Pick the Kobra S1 Max Combo for large parts or technical materials: a 350×350 mm bed (vs 256×256), nozzle up to 350°C and bed up to 120°C — enough headroom for ABS, ASA or filled nylon.

Choose P1S if…

Pick the P1S if budget comes first and a compact format is enough: it costs less than half (€449 vs €949), and with the AMS it handles up to 16 colors against 4 on the Kobra.
