Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra vs Phrozen Sonic Mighty 8K
Technical comparison · Resin 3D printing
Both resin printers have the same build plate, about 218 × 123 mm, so the choice is not about how much fits but about what you spend and how fast you work. The Saturn 4 Ultra costs about €250 less and declares a faster Z-axis build rate.

| Software notes | The device natively supports the proprietary ChituBox preparation software and is fully compatible with popular third-party slicers in the industry. File management and remote monitoring are handled via the desktop application connected to the local Wi-Fi network. Advanced functions of the integrated camera enable automatic time-lapse video generation and anomaly identification during the placement of initial layers. File transfer is not bound to mandatory proprietary remote servers, ensuring operational continuity offline via the USB port. | The system supports file formats generated by major third-party slicing software, including ChiTuBox and Lychee Slicer, ensuring operational flexibility for users with established workflows. Connectivity is comprehensive, featuring Ethernet cable options, Wi-Fi connection, and a USB port for offline file transfer. The internal firmware efficiently manages calibration and function control via the integrated touchscreen interface. Despite the availability of the Phrozen GO mobile application for remote progress monitoring, the machine operates entirely autonomously and does not require a constant internet connection or reliance on proprietary cloud services to execute and complete daily print operations. |
The differences that matter
- €399 against about €650 → about €250 less for the same build plate.
- XY resolution 19 µm against 28 µm → smaller pixels on miniatures with fine detail (values declared by the manufacturer).
- 150 mm/h against 70 mm/h, tilt system against standard FEP → a 100 mm tall part rises in about 40 minutes against about 85.
Which one to choose
Choose Saturn 4 Ultra if…
you print miniatures or small batches and want the plate done before the evening. The built-in camera records a time-lapse and checks the first layers, and files arrive over Wi-Fi or USB. You give up the Ethernet port and 15 mm of usable height: 220 mm against 235 mm.
Choose Sonic Mighty 8K if…
you work in a shop with wired networking and print figures up to 235 mm tall that would have to be split on the Saturn. Ethernet, Wi-Fi and USB are all on board, and the workflow can stay on ChiTuBox or Lychee Slicer. The trade-off is a higher purchase price and a slower Z build rate.
