Software notes The system includes a PC running Ubuntu Linux with LinuxCNC pre-installed, along with a 4-axis driver board built into the computer chassis. A CD with complete instructions and utilities to convert CAD files and TrueType fonts into G-code is included. The operator must supply an external monitor; keyboard and mouse are provided. LinuxCNC is an open-source CNC control package running real-time on the Linux kernel and is compatible with standard G-code formats. The lathe is entirely manual: no CNC control or software interface of any kind is included. The bundled motor drives the six-step V-belt transmission (525–5200 RPM); any additional speed regulation relies on an external inverter chosen by the user.
