Software notes The MK4S runs proprietary Prusa firmware based on Marlin, not GRBL. It is managed through PrusaSlicer (with over 180 official profiles included), Simplify3D, or Cura with community profiles. Files are loaded via USB, local network, or PrusaConnect and the Prusa mobile app; it is not compatible with LightBurn or LaserGRBL, being a filament printer. The machine can run fully offline with no cloud dependency, and receives regular firmware updates along with pre-tuned profiles for Prusament materials. The machine relies on an architecture based on Klipper firmware, which provides advanced computational performance and native features like input shaping to reduce vibrations during high-speed movements. Users can interface via the integrated 5-inch touchscreen or through the standard Klipper web interface. The recommended official slicing software is QIDI Studio, a program derived from PrusaSlicer and Orca Slicer, optimized to leverage the machine's profiles and proprietary print parameters. However, the system maintains an open approach and is fully compatible with third-party slicers such as Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer, and Cura, ensuring maximum flexibility in the daily workflow.
