Bambu Lab P1S vs Prusa Research MK4S

Technical comparison · Fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM)

In brief

P1S leads on the available specs (starting with price); MK4S makes sense only for non-technical reasons (availability, support, ecosystem), or if the missing data matters in your case. On the category's overall technical index, P1S scores 46/100 against 17/100 for MK4S.

Software notes The P1S is managed through Bambu Studio, Bambu Lab's proprietary slicer available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, or via OrcaSlicer, the widely adopted open-source fork that provides finer parameter control. The Bambu Handy mobile app enables remote monitoring and print launching. The printer supports local LAN connections without a mandatory cloud account, though some advanced features — such as remote timelapses and OTA firmware updates — require a Bambu account. PrusaSlicer (optimized) and Prusa Connect for remote control. The machine accepts G-code from any slicer (Cura, Simplify3D) and communicates via USB, Ethernet or Wi-Fi using an open Marlin-based protocol. Compatible with OctoPrint and offline management. Does not require a Prusa account to print, unlike machines with proprietary firmware that block features without connection.
