F1 Portable Laser Engraver vs F1

Technical comparison · Diode laser (405–460 nm)

In brief

F1 leads on the measurable specs (starting with price), while F1 Portable Laser Engraver shows no advantage of its own. Choose F1, unless non-technical factors (availability, support, ecosystem) tip the balance.

Software notes Machine control is primarily handled by the proprietary xTool Creative Space ecosystem, an intuitive application that enables native management of both laser sources and supports autofocus and camera-assisted positioning functions. For advanced users requiring more granular control over processing parameters and complex workflows, the unit offers compatibility with LightBurn. Integration with the latter requires a specific initial configuration for galvanometer systems, but it unlocks professional vector programming features, optimizing execution times across both Windows and macOS operating systems. The xTool F1 Lite is compatible with xTool Studio (proprietary, free, Windows and macOS). The galvo system uses a proprietary protocol: LaserGRBL is not compatible as it requires GRBL firmware on a gantry controller. LightBurn introduced experimental galvo support in version 1.4+, but compatibility with the F1 Lite's specific controller is not officially certified by xTool, making the experience unguaranteed. In practice the user is tied to xTool Studio, which handles core functions but does not offer the flexibility of community profiles, macros, and advanced layers available in LightBurn for GRBL gantry lasers.
